Re-imagining Intervention: Using The Science of Reading to Drive Equity

Far too often, students in reading intervention are relegated to practicing lower-level skills. Yet, this approach can mean students never have the opportunity to catch up to peers. As a matter of equity, all students deserve and can benefit from rich work with challenging texts. This session will focus on the research about how students can engage with text that is beyond their "reading level," along with how to select and scaffold texts. The strategies shared are applicable to all ELA classrooms, not just intervention!
